Dermatitis is a general term for skin inflammation and it is not contagious. Depending on the season and the stress, some types of dermatitis may flare up or take longer than expected and we offer the solution with cbd oil and dermatitis.

What are the symptoms of dermatitis?

The symptoms can range from mild to severe and depending on what body part is affected. The symptoms include:

  • Swelling
  • Itchy skin
  • Dry skin
  • Rashes
  • Blisters
  • Painful, stinging or burning skin
  • Redness

What are the types of dermatitis?

  • Contact dermatitis – this happens when a substance touches your skin and causes an allergic reaction or irritation. These further go on to become a rash that burns or itches
  • Atopic dermatitis – Another word for Atopic dermatitis is eczema. This skin condition is inherited and develops during infancy. People with eczema experience rough patches and dry and itchy skin.
  • Dyshidrotic dermatitis – In this type, the skin cannot protect itself and results in itchy and dry skin along with small blisters. It mainly occurs on the hands and feet.
  • Seborrheic dermatitis – another word for this is cradle cap in babies and is most common on the scalp but can also occur on the face and chest. It often causes red skin, scaly patches and dandruff.

Can CBD help the skin?

Cannabinoids (CBD) being one,  is a part of the cannabis family which includes both hemp and marijuana. CBD is a non-psychotic drug and is mainly used for medicinal purposes.

Cannabinoids (CBD) trigger an anti-inflammatory reaction in cells and help ease eczema flair-ups. Another study showed that applying a cannabis-based ointment over the infected area twice a day for three months helps improve the skin elasticity and hydrates it.

The endocannabinoid system is involved in allergic inflammation and using CBD can help skin conditions like eczema by reducing inflammation and relieving dry skin. Cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system may reduce pain, mood, stress, sleep, immune system and itching. However one should be cautious while using eczema with cannabis products as this comes with a variety of variants such as terpenes are present in weed creams.

Evidence is still thin pointing to CBD helping in eczema or has the key components necessary for success.
