Diabetes is a chronic and metabolic disease that is characterised by elevated levels of blood glucose also known as blood sugar which leads to serious damage to the heart, blood vessels, eyes and kidneys and nerves. There are type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The most common one found in adults is type 2 and this occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or does not make enough insulin. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes has increased drastically over the past few decades. There are about 422 million people in the world that have diabetes and the majority live in low-income and middle-income countries. There are approximately 1.6 million deaths each year due to diabetes. Type 1 diabetes was known as insulin-dependent diabetes or juvenile diabetes. It is a condition in which the pancreas do not produce insulin or very little insulin. People living with diabetes to access affordable treatment which includes insulin is critical to their survival.
All types of diabetes can lead to complications in different parts of the body and can cause premature death. Complications can include leg amputation, vision loss, kidney failure and nerve damage. The risk of heart attacks and strokes are higher in adults. Pregnant women with diabetes need to take proper care as poorly controlled diabetes can cause feta; death and other complications. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of kidney failure. Nerve damage in the feet and reduced blood flow caused by diabetes lead to foot ulcers and related complications which can lead to limb amputation and severe lifelong health problems.
Type 1 and 2 symptoms:

Researches show promising results in the use of CBD for reducing insulin resistance and moderating blood sugars for people suffering from type 2 diabetes and not taking insulin. Human and animal studies have looked at CBD’s effects on levels of insulin, blood glucose and inflammation as well as complications of diabetes like the pain associated with diabetic neuropathy. Even though type 1 and type 2 diabetes differ in treatment, they present the same problem that is too much glucose circulating in the blood.
The body uses the hormone insulin to help regulate blood glucose levels. The pancreases then produce insulin upon food consumption that acts as a key and unlocks certain cells to allow glucose from foods and beverages one consumes to enter the cells and be used as energy later.
While there are no clinical tests to prove CBD oil consumption can lower the risk of developing diabetes in humans. However, a study found that nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice had a substantially lower risk of developing diabetes if treated with CBD. CBD is also known to reduce inflammation and nerve pain associated with osteoarthritis. Other medications like metformin along with a healthy diet and exercise will help in treating and managing blood glucose.
